AUBURN, Ala. — The Auburn Arts Association invites the community to celebrate two visual arts events at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC): the 2026 Juried Photography Biennial and the Studio 222 Winter reception, each featuring new works by local and regional artists.

Both receptions will take place Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. They are free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided.

The 2026 Juried Photography Biennial showcases the work of professional, student and amateur photographers from across Alabama and neighboring Georgia counties. Artists 18 years and older were invited to submit up to two original photographic works created within the last three years. Entries were accepted in all photographic media, with works professionally presented and ready for exhibition.

The Biennial will be on view Jan. 15 through Feb. 26, 2026, in the JDCAC Art Gallery. Awards will be announced during the Jan. 22 reception.

Alongside the Biennial, Studio 222 will showcase vibrant textile works by the following artists: Carolyn Courson, Nola Chambers, Cindy Reinke, Linda Harshbarger, Melinda Clair, Ro Gilbert-Eyke, Lorraine Crumpler, Dee Shealey, Sally Hurlbert, Laura Kloberg and Nancy Morgen.

Studio 222 will be on view Jan. 12 through Jan. 23, 2026, in the JDCAC Art Gallery II.

Together, these exhibitions offer the community an engaging opportunity to experience the range of creative work produced in the region and to support local artists at the start of the new year.
